Curry hut

If you’re in Augusta, GA, searching for a place that serves up authentic Indian food, look no further than Curry Hut. This cozy spot brings the rich tapestry of Indian cuisine right to your table, offering dishes from both northern and southern India. It’s a culinary journey worth embarking on.

Warm Hospitality and Gracious Service

During a recent visit, my family and I decided to dive deep into the menu, and the staff at Curry Hut were incredibly accommodating. They even moved a table to make more space for our ambitious spread without us asking. Now, that’s what I call gracious service!

Appetizer Delight: Gobhi 65

We started with the Gobhi 65, a delightful appetizer of deep-fried cauliflower. The tang of the yogurt, the heat from the ginger, and the earthiness of the cumin powder made it an unforgettable start to our meal. It was the perfect way to kick things off and get us excited for what was to come.

Hearty Main Courses to Savor

Then, we moved on to the Navratan Korma, a creamy, dreamy concoction of vegetables swimming in a rich tomato cream sauce. It was like a hug in a bowl, comforting and full of love.

The sautéed okra, seasoned with ginger, cumin seeds, onions, and tomatoes, was another hit at our table. The freshness of the okra, paired with the subtle heat and crunch, was a delightful surprise.

Eggplant Bhurtha: A Must-Try Dish

But the dish that truly stole my heart was the Eggplant Bhurtha. This North Indian delicacy of roasted eggplant, cooked down with tomato and onions and seasoned with a harmonious blend of turmeric, ginger, garlic, and cumin, was smoky, hearty, and utterly delicious. It was a dish I kept coming back to, bite after bite.

Indulging in Goat Curry and Vegetable Biryani

We also indulged in both the Goat Curry and Vegetable Biryani. The goat curry was warm, tender, hearty, and full of flavor. The vegetable biryani was lighter but no less flavorful, packed with fresh veggies and spices. Served with a side of cool, creamy raita, it was a feast fit for a king.

Naan: The Perfect Sidekick

And of course, no Indian meal is complete without Naan. We opted for both Garlic and Peshwari Naan. The garlic naan was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with garlicky goodness, while the Peshwari naan, with its filling of nuts and raisins, offered a sweet counterpoint to the spicy dishes. If you have never had Peshwari, I highly recommend trying it—it’s not filled with toppings, but the flavor is perfectly intertwined.

Room for Improvement and final thoughts

My only piece of advice for Curry Hut would be to give a bit of attention to the exterior. A little effort in sprucing up the outside could make this spot even more inviting.
