Upon stepping into Shine’s meticulously maintained space, the immediate impression is one of stylish tidiness complemented by an impeccably groomed staff. Although the possibility of encountering a less-trained team member exists—as was our experience—it barely dims the restaurant’s consistent glow of excellence. Our seating in the basement level, a cozy and trend-forward space with televisions that somehow felt just right despite my usual preferences, added a unique charm to our dining experience.
The dinner commenced with the Shine house salad, which laid the groundwork with its freshness and thoughtful composition, indicating a meal where quality ingredients reign supreme. Our adventure continued with the children’s burger, adapted on a gluten-free bun for Claire and customized with a variety of toppings. Despite the burgers being slightly underdone for my taste, this was a minor quirk easily adjustable in future orders by specifying a preference for a well-done preparation.
Kevin’s choice, the blackened grouper sandwich with a harmonious blend of cilantro citrus aioli and nitro pickle nestled within a soft brioche bun, was declared truly satisfying.
My selection, the Bucatini Aglio e Olio, delivered a bold flavor profile with its garlic oil base and vibrant mix of artichokes, olives, and sundried tomatoes, though slightly on the saltier side. A request for bread resulted in the presentation of a baguette so fresh and exquisitely baked it enhanced the entire meal and provided a welcome favor break for the pasta. It’s my recommendation the Bucatini Aglio e Olio dish be served with a slice of baguette, or a fresh garnish of green herb on top to create a slight break in flavor.
A delightful surprise was the restroom facilities—not only were they spotless, but they also featured a fantastic sound system that provided the backdrop for a spontaneous mother-son dance, further showcasing Shine’s commitment to creating fun, memorable experiences in every corner of its establishment.
