Frank & Al's Pizzeria

Dining Review

Frank and Al´s

If you’re in Port St. Lucie, FL, and seeking a satisfying dining experience, Frank & Al’s Pizzeria might just fit the bill. As a food enthusiast and a long-time team manager, I’ve learned that a restaurant’s quality extends beyond its menu—it’s the seamless integration of service, atmosphere, and food that creates a memorable outing.

Upon arrival, the warm aroma of freshly baked pizzas and robust tomato sauce permeated the air, promising an enjoyable meal ahead. Our visit was marked by an impressive spread that showcased the restaurant’s ambition to deliver comfort food favorites.

Culinary Journey

First up was the Eggplant Parmesan. While the dish was visually very appealing, the execution fell short. The eggplant was sliced so thin that it lost its character, becoming nearly invisible once battered, detracting from texture and flavor; for this to happen, it must have been sliced almost so thin it was translucent before battering. Eggplant Parmesan can be a challenging dish to master, and I felt there’s significant potential for improvement here. I would love to return to sample a version that respects the ingredients’ integrity.

Alongside the eggplant, we also tried an Eggplant Lasagna, which was tasty but unfortunately suffered from the same thin-slicing fate. Both dishes had promise but could shine with a slightly thicker, more generous cut to the preparation methods.

However, on a brighter note, the red sauce accompanying the eggplant had a dense and robust tomato flavor that many diners may appreciate. Additionally, we ordered a fresh salad that provided a crisp and tasty start to our meal. The salad and ranch dressing were great!

We ordered a gluten-free peperoni pizza and it was a highlight, with a crust that held up well and captured the essence of traditional pizza-making. We also enjoyed a very good calzone; despite a little unmelted cheese evident in the video, the overall flavors were well-balanced and really enjoyable.

REFLECTIONS

While the restrooms were clean, they could benefit from a fresh coat of paint as upon first look, they were painted with very little care or skill—still the cleanliness is commendable and shows they are working well with what they have.

The staff was clean and tidy, but I would not say particularly friendly. This was fine for me because I prefer efficiency over chit-chat in dining.

Comfortably decorated and conveniently located just off Hwy 95, Frank & Al’s Pizzeria offers a pleasant setting for a meal. Go try it and let us know about the eggplant parmesan; I would order it again, I would just hope the ratio of breading to eggplant be adjusted. Let me know how it is!

Until next time, happy dining!
