Two Thai Cuisine was recommended to us by a food connoisseur who knows we appreciate fresh, quality ingredients and a peaceful dining environment. It’s located in a quiet plaza in Bluffton and on the night we visited — a Friday around 5:00 p.m. — we were the only diners in the restaurant. That quiet gave us time to really take in the atmosphere and enjoy our meal, and based on the quality of the food and the strength of the recommendation, I feel confident it gets busier at peak hours.
We were greeted kindly and seated promptly. The menu offered a variety of traditional Thai dishes, and our server was pleasant, if a bit informally dressed. She was wearing something more fitting for a baseball game than a restaurant serving $75 dinners for two. Her manners were acceptable, but there were small moments where service could have been tighter — like when she didn’t seem to know who had ordered which dish and made us feel like we needed to grab the plates ourselves. There were also plates still on the table when our entrées arrived, and instead of clearing them first, she moved them to a nearby table.
May we all strive to respect our servers by giving them the space and dignity to do their job well — to take pride in knowing whose dish goes where, and to handle the table confidently without the diner needing to assist. Next time you go out to eat, the best place for your hands while the server is present might just be: comfortably relaxed.
This dish was beautiful. The tofu was excellent — lightly crisped on the outside, soft inside — and the eggplant was tender without being soggy. The vegetables (peppers, onions, Thai basil) were noticeably crisp, likely added at the end for freshness. It was served with rice directly on the plate, which helped the rice absorb sauce, but I found myself running out of sauce before I could finish even half the rice. The portion was modest, not overly large, and made for a light but satisfying meal. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and thoughtfully prepared.
This dish was warm and comforting. Kevin really enjoyed it, and I tasted it too — it had a robust, somewhat earthy flavor, less sweet or creamy than the traditional Massaman you might find elsewhere, but in a good way. The duck had a lovely crisp on the outside, while still tender and juicy inside. The curry base was flavorful, layered, and memorable.
The checkout process was done by handheld device at the table — or optionally at the counter — which seems to be increasingly common these days. Still, it's never our preference. It feels a little impersonal, especially at a sit-down dinner where you’ve enjoyed a nice meal and want the final steps to match the tone.
The restaurant atmosphere was peaceful, clean, and gently decorated. We appreciated the ambient volume and the quiet nature of our meal. The walk to the restroom was actually quite nice — calming, with good lighting and decor — but the restroom itself did not meet the same standard. The paint job was rough and the area around the toilet needed a more thorough and consistent cleaning. These small maintenance issues don’t match the level of care clearly being put into the kitchen, and they matter for a full dining experience — especially when bringing kids or extended family along.
What stood out most about Two Thai Cuisine was the freshness and quality of the food. Both dishes we tried were flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, and while portion sizes weren’t large, they made for a lighter, satisfying meal. The restaurant clearly values its ingredients and flavors — something we always appreciate.
The service was kind but could benefit from more polish, and while the restroom may not have matched the rest of the environment, it’s an issue that could be quickly addressed.
Despite these small quirks, we would absolutely return to Two Thai Cuisine. It’s a strong Bluffton option for Thai food in a peaceful setting — and one we’re glad to have tried.
